My name is Zi Liu, and I am an FP Human Foundations coach and nutritionist. As a former collegiate athlete, I dealt with sports-related injuries. During my time playing competitive basketball in college, I experienced a series of severe ankle injuries that eventually led to ankle surgery. Following my ankle surgery, I faced muscle atrophy, leading to muscle imbalances in my body.
Despite trying various methods to strengthen my body, nothing seemed to work, and I couldn't place the necessary trust in my ankle. After experimenting with many different training styles and systems, I found Functional Patterns. To my surprise, the FP system enabled me to build lean muscle mass and develop newfound stability and strength in my ankles and feet. I was also pleased to see that my body was becoming more balanced and resilient.
On the basketball court, I regained confidence in my movements. Tasks such as dunking felt effortless again, and I felt like a completely transformed player. The difference was genuinely night and day. Functional Patterns became a complete lifestyle shift for me. It made me more mindful of my movement, food choices, and recovery methods.
